Fascinating Lens science!

Hi, I have read all your articles I believe. And found it absolutely fascinating.

One thing I must question in regard to lens base colour and mirror colour match ups.

Some makers of sunnies will put together the likes of brown base with blue mirror, both of which reject blue light.

To me that doesn't really make sense at this point, because wouldn't that be overdone on blue rejection? Overly enhancing reds and greens? Or Same with a rose base and green mirror both rejecting green light and overly boosting purple and amber? The first combination is fairly common, the second is by MAKO, who actually do both.

I understand the aim with the brown base, blue mirror for offshore fishing where you are surrounded by blue and pretty much only blue, unless the sky is cloudy. But still, isn't that overdoing it?

And with the rose lens, green mirror, aimed at inshore fishing, where if you are up mangrove lined creeks you are surrounded with a lot of green which is even reflected off the water, but typically blue or grey skies. Rose and green overdoing it or what?

I did a quick comparison, not a proper one, but felt the above where too bright and rosy, but the Costa grey base, blue mirror was a lot darker and more comfortable.

Interested to hear your thoughts. And any scientific explanation.

Gonna need a lot of sunnies then to cover every possible scenario. 😄
