I’m not a pilot but I spoke to an air Canada pilot who told me a lot of flyers wear Serengeti non polar drivers. The tint won’t get darkened in the cockpit but it will be dark enough and comfortable. My two cents even though I don’t have experience in this area.

great question, especially in prescription. The drivers take care of so many different situations and weather, the only lens you really need is something for very bright sun and long exposure, so that will be a green or grey lens, with or without a mirror (your aesthetic preference). There are a few options for that. Maui Jim Grey in any material, Serengeti 555, costa grey or blue mirror. But it’s much easier to find a nice grey lens than a brown or rose. Hard to mess it up really so it’s not as critical to get the perfect one.

Serengeti comes in trivex for prescription, and you can get it made with 0 power, which I have done, but because it’s not a stock option it’s way more expensive, the same as prescription. I like the Land more than MauiRose

Is glass a good idea for that? If you can’t do glass I would do the Dita Land or the MauiRose in Maui Brilliant

Correct. Generally orange which is like red will block red light and let in relatively more blue light. That’s why red or gold mirrors are usually put on brown lenses to make them a bit more neutral, or they use different mirrors that don’t change the tint very much at all, like Island Optics Red Mirror that has little effect on the tint. Oakley used to make a red mirror on a grey lens that was a blue view, and I sold that, had little use for the blue sport lens.

Not sure, but you can customize any pair of Maui Jim on their website to have that lens color

Very cool. I think your best bet is to get two lenses, one for full sun and one for overcast. I would get the deep water polarized for full sun because of its rose base, dark tint, and polarization, and then I would get dark golf or golf for overcast, or ruby polarized for that if you still want polarized.

I find Costa to be the darkest and most comfortable in bright light. Vuarnet grey polar is also very comfortable. Randolph AGX/cobalt are the only very dark lenses I would recommend for you. The grey isn’t that dark.

Not sure what to tell you other than that you should try them and then you will know. You can return if that’s an option. I think the MJ grey is darker than the Serengeti 555.

I think Costa Green mirror is good advice. High contrast, very dark and comfortable, and great overall quality of material and coatings.

Looks like the anti reflective coating hasn’t been applied properly or it’s been damaged. My 555 blues are not like this. I think you are just very unlucky and should complain to the seller again. Sorry about this.

I haven’t, but it looks like a mix between their techlite and chromapop lenses, and like you said, they only put this in fishing frames. I already like glass Chromapop lenses so I imagine these are really good.

I believe the answer is yes you can get it and I don’t think the lenses would be that thick. SportRx would be the best place online to do this, and they can help get you exact answers to all your questions. I don’t know answers to questions about prescriptions as well as they do.
