Yeah, steer clear of optical H, and others out of Europe that seem too cheap. I did a lot of research and found a lot of people got scammed. I ended up getting mine from the Amazon Aust Maui Jims store. At the best price in Oz.

Yeah, that doesn't really make sense, does it? I'd expect the VLT to be less with the added mirror. Be a good question for Serengeti!

Mmmm..... Take the blue out of green which is what the blue mirror is doing to an extent, and you are left with yellow. So, I guess because blue light is being reduced, making what we see appear more yellow, that would make it seem lighter? And the view is certainly more yellow looking as opposed to green with the straight 555nm.

Yes JB, I can't understand why the 555nm lens is actually so much lighter with the blue mirror, I expected the opposite. I'd love to know the explanation for that. My way of thinking id that the mirror reflects some of the light before the remaining light passes through the base lens. So how can it possibly not be darker? 🤔

You'll find them cheaper elsewhere, although they are expensive, nonetheless. Try Costa Australia direct, only $430. They also have clearance sales on there from time to time.

Yes, the blue mirror Costa's are the darkest glasses I have, and I haven't seen darker. Great for offshore fishing on bright clear days.

I have since bought a new pair of Shelby's with drivers lens and gold mirror which are very different to look through. The Jordans for one are lighter and redder. To look through the lenses together against a white background the Jordans look almost like a rose lens and the Shelby's are more brownish. The Shelby's give a more natural view than the Jordans. They are really not alike. You wouldn't know that they were both drivers lenses.

Yes, I like the 555 blue for driving too! I think they are perhaps the most versatile sunnies that I have. Best for mixed conditions and overcast for sure, but are ok for full bright sun as well. Also good when you are in and out of the shade, even in and out of buildings. The 555 no mirror are definitely darker and are next in terms of versatility, not far behind the blue mirror. Better in bright sun, but not quite as good in shade or overcast. But still very good! The photochromic aspect makes both these glasses better IMHO than the likes of the Maui HCL for mixed conditions and shade, more versatile.

Yes, and as I'm finding it's really hard to select the ideal pair of glasses as most of the shops are in malls where there is no natural light. And you can see some of the glasses at one shop some at another and so on. Ideal if you could have all your short-listed glasses in one outdoor location in the type of environment you intend to use them then trial them one after the other until you arrive at your choice. Would be so much easier.

I have purchased the Serengeti Blue 555nm. Should receive them by next week.
